Carbon Poker is a fairly new member of the Merge Gaming Corporation and unfamiliar to the average poker player but, despite this, Carbon poker room is indeed based on the highest quality software you can think of. It is based fully on a Flash module with excellent graphics and use of a clean, modern interface.
The colours are cool and relaxing while the chat icons are great fun and add a personal side to your opponents. Players can even add a trophy icon to their avatar to indicate any tournament wins they have. I found the chat icon feature to be extremely nice and friendly to use. Aside from its fantastic appearance, Carbon Poker offers some very usable features, everything from player notes to excellent lobby filters. The lobby is, itself, is very easy to navigate and comprehensible. There is a good selection of customisation options that allow you to control sound, graphics and chat features to suit your personal choice. Another great feature of the graphics is they are vector based, meaning they don't blur when changing the size of a table. A couple of unique characteristics of the game play options are, "rabbit hunt" which allows players to see the next card in the deck for a folded hand, and an "expose one card" function where a player can show one card, both or none at the end of the game.
CarbonPoker offers very good game diversity, with some more rare types of game along with all of the more common choices such Texas Hold'em and Omaha. Carbon Poker offers Texas Hold'em, Seven-Card Stud Hi and Hi-Lo, Omaha Hi and Hi-Lo, Razz, Five-Card Stud, Five-Card Draw, Triple Draw and Badugi, which is a Chinese poker variation.
Taking into account that it accepting US players, all ready there is a very healthy action base compared with other online poker rooms. Contained mainly in Texas Hold em as usual but with some decent occupancy on the other games to make sure you are always guaranteed a game of what you fancy. Both real and play money players add up to an average of 8000 at its busiest. Ring games hold about 500 players at peak times and 2000 in tournaments at peak times. This number is constantly growing along with the popularity of online poker rooms.

Due to its frequent selection of freerolls, the standard of player is quite soft. Small stacks and lose cash make it quick, loose play at the lower stake tables.
The selection of tournaments available at Carbon poker is average compared with other online poker rooms. They have a good variety of free rolls, with $100 free rolls every 3 hours, which are open to everyone and daily $500 and $1,000 free rolls, weekly $2,000 and $10,000 free rolls, and a monthly $50,000 free roll. Though these are offered daily, I have only been able to get a seat in one once, they fill up very quickly and you need to be very quick off the mark to get a seat.
Carbon-poker offers a healthy amount of STT, MTT and some satellites to major events. Though this is not the best site for players who are trying to qualify for live tournaments, the more established online poker rooms offer much better standings.
When signing up to carbon poker, players receive complimentary free roll tickets, and a sign up bonus of 200% match to your first deposit. Along with these promotions there is a reload bonus, loyalty programme and refer-a – friends bonus.
All in all, Carbon poker is a decent online poker room but still needs to find its feet among the better ones. After a few of these issues have been ironed out then it will definitely be one to look out for in the future. |
